Storvågan near Kabelvåg is a site of great historical importance in Northern Norway. The site was part of the older Vágar, which was Northern Norway’s earliest town, a market town founded in the Middle Ages for the export of stockfish. Until the end of the 19th century, Storvågan was one of Lofoten’s most important fishing villages. The foundation for the wharf/warehouse probably dates from the first half of the 19th century. The main house in the farmhouse dates from 1815.

In close dialogue with the cultural heritage department of Nordland County Council, the wharf/warehouse will be reconstructed on the older foundation by Museum Nord in the coming years.
