Frya ammunition depot was built by the German occupation forces during the war. Norwegian and Russian prisoners of war were used as labour. After the war, the Norwegian Armed Forces took over the ammunition depot. Due to several powerful explosions in the ammunition depot in 1960, the operation was moved. Today, the camp is used as a campsite and for events such as motorcycle meets and dog shows.
