The main street stones were taken from the Bergen municipality’s warehouse. The stones have different shapes and colours, and several of them are clearly hand-hewn.

Bergen was one of the first cities in Norway to receive cobble stones, already in the 16th century. The stone that Bergen has provided for the project is from different periods and of different sizes. It may have been used for paving the streets, the pavements, or the gutters. The stones come from many different places and may have been used several times.
