The stone is part of a grindstone. This is most likely a natural stone, which was used in the beginning, before the reinforced stone took over. It is covered in some moss after being in a pile of stones. The grindstone was used in the production of mechanically processed wood pulp, where logs were pressed against a rotating grindstone. During this process, water was added, producing the pulp. This wood pulp was then sent to another factory that used it in the production of paper.
