Akselberg quarry

The Akselberg quarry in Velfjord produces lime marble. It is a raw material that, after crushing in two stages, is used for bleaching paper as a replacement for chlorine and other environmentally hazardous additives that were previously used.
The stone, a gangway rock aplite, varies in grey colour and has a greenish tint to it. Attached is a picture of how the passage appears in the quarry. This is an example of a large intrusive passage of aplite. The donated stones are leftovers from quarry production.
