The stones were taken from Fjøløy fort.

The battery on Fjøløy was part of Artillery Group Stavanger – North, which was established in Stavanger in April 1940 and consisted of the three batteries on Randaberg, Kvitsøy and Fjøløy. The command post was located on Kvitsøy. The battery was part of the German defence system that defended the approach to Stavanger from the north through the Boknafjorden and from the North Sea.
