Nidaros Cathedral
The stone is from Nidaros Cathedral.
D — the old name for the Choir and thus also the Royal Entrance.
S — south side.
U — exterior.
403 — 4th floor, field 3.
490 — the stone’s unique number.
This is a stone that was replaced from the Royal Entrance in connection with recent restoration work. It comes from Bjørnålia near Mosjøen, and this type of stone was used extensively in the restoration of the church after the railway was established north of the country. In fact, a full 7500 m3 were transported to Trondheim. The stone has subsequently proven to be of poor quality for its purpose, and has therefore recently been replaced. Donated from Nidaros Cathedral’s Restoration Workshop to Trøndelag County Council, and further to the art project.
